Bit of a background story on this one:
My job is located downtown...the busiest part of a very large town. Right behind my building is an old road/trail that vanishes into woods. Over the past few months we've learned a group of homeless people (5 or 6 that we've seen anyway) have been living somewhere in these woods. Seeing how a road used to go right into the woods, I figured there may be an abandoned building somewhere back there. I looked for their dwelling for nearly 2 months on my lunch breaks. I finally found it late in August. Although I didn't find anything abandoned as I was hoping to, I did find something a tad more interesting: a very small, self-contained community, which despite being located in the most crowded area around has remained invisible. We have dubbed it "The Village".
Please keep in mind this is how these people live; this is not a camping trip. Other than bicycles and and old church bus, this is all these people have.....please respect that.

The trail leading up to it.

This 'village' consists of 2 tents well hidden in the woods. There looks like there was a 3rd, but it has been knocked down. There's also some sort of plastic overhang, but I don't know what they use it for. The 2 tents are not right next to each other; rather they are connected by a trail. In between the tents I found 2 bikes propped up against a tree. The knocked down tent was across from the bikes.

I've been wanting to talk to these people, but on both of my trips nobody was there. I've shot some video footage back there and am considering adding it to this page.
Once again, please keep an open mind and realize this is how these people actually live.
